What Is Time Management?

Everyone has the same amount of time in their day. Do you use your time wisely? Do you struggle with the demands of your job? Do you feel that you are missing some of the best times of your life because you just don’t have time to enjoy them?

Out of these three questions I bet that you answered yes to at least one of these and you just feel like, until you get a grip on your time, that life will just slip you by. The pressures and demands of how to use your time could be getting you down in either your home life or your professional life. And the time that you have with your family is just not what you feel that they deserve.

However, don’t worry just yet. Time worries and frustrations are fixable, and it is not as difficult as you think to make some little changes that give you big returns for that effort. It only takes a few small adjustments in the way you use your time to change your life forever and you will be so happy that you did. Even though change does take some time to implement and then stick to your efforts for doing those changes far outweigh what you are experiencing now.

Life Purpose 4 Steps To Start

All people seek purpose in their lives. Some know what that is and others don’t have a clue. If you are one of those that don’t know, let me get you started on looking at what that might be. I look at Life Purpose work as some of the most interesting work that I do. It is a wonderful patchwork quilt that when the pieces come together is magnificent as a whole. But if you only have some of the pieces of the quilt it can be frustrating until enough pieces come together for you to start to see your Life Purpose.

Most people think that the only way to express your life purpose is to find a job that you like to do. I think that you would be happier if your job was in alignment with your life purpose but you can actually live your life’s purpose in all areas of your life and work can be a part of it but not all of it. When you look at how you can explore your own life purpose you need to start making lists so you might as well get that 3-ring binder now to collect information. It might take some time at first but trust me very beneficial in the end.

Goals Can Be A Tricky Subject

Goals is a tricky subject because it takes on so many different aspects when picking just one to work on. The first thing you need to address is to know where you want to go and is it realistic. An example of that is when I decided to lose some weight about 3 years ago.

I started out thinking that I would lose some 10 pounds a month and it would take me two months to get off the 20 pounds I wanted to lose. When I got together with the group that was going to go through the book Lose it for Life by Stephen Arterburn I was made very aware by my buddies that my goal was totally unrealistic. After all I had not done the weight game before.

Funny Story About Getting Things Done

It is around my birthday, April 3rd so I thought I would share with you a story about my family and what it was like being a parent that might bring a chuckle to your life. Here is one of my stories, enjoy.

My Son Brian, who is now 35 was up in his room “cleaning.” I had gone up to the room many times to see the progress of the clean-up-job. Each time I went to the room I would see that nothing had been done. This last time however I went to see that the door had been closed. I thought he must have decided to take a nap for all of the “thinking” about cleaning he was doing. So I opened the door very slowly. Out of the corner I saw something go past my face.

Balance Family & Work

Let’s talk about balancing your Family and work when it comes to outsourcing. Just like when you work away from home you would not ask an employee to try to fix the broken copier but you would call the copier repair dude to fix it. He has done it a million of times and it isn’t a good way to spend your time for your employer that paid you to run the accounting department.

So let’s look at ways that you can outsource some of your time at home with the same thinking that you use your time at work.

Some suggestions for outsourcing your home life is:

How to Save Time

One of the best ways to save time is to batch your work together. Batching means to do all like things at the same time. An example would be what I do on Sunday night to prepare for the next week. I get my calendar out and look at what I have to do. When I see that I need to do two or three things that have the same theme then I make sure that I do them together.

I have one calendar that I schedule my time for my business, my home and my husband’s schedule too. I write everything for him in a different pencil color to differentiate my work from his. Here are some things that I batch together that you might think to do.

This is how to save time work smarter not harder.

Organizing Papers – What To Keep

Paper organizing has become such a big thing that entire businesses have been built around collecting and organizing paper. Just look at how many Staples and Office Depot’s are in your area. As you walk though the isles you will see row after row of containers and file folders to hold all of the paper that we feel that we need.

When I look at my own papers for my office I have several different systems going on and I will talk about that in later newsletters but for now I want to give you a list of papers that you need to keep indefinitely and store them with folders where you can find them again. In other words don’t send these to the shred pile ok?

Here they are:

How To Stop The Crazy Busy Cycle

If you are drained and exhausted it is a sure sign that you are in the crazy busy cycle. Life should be fun and not exhausting right? Well when you have too much on your plate to do then you do it day in and day out it sets you on a pattern you might not even know you’re in.

And the crazy thing is you are bound to do it over and over again until you just drop to the floor in the bathroom and say out loud “I can’t do this anymore, something has to give!” That is what happened to me. I didn’t even know I was in the crazy busy cycle because I was so blasted busy to realize it. And believe it or not while I was in this busy cycle I thought that I wasn’t getting enough done. That’s embarrassing when your business has to do with helping others in their time management issues, LOL.

Personal Holiday Sharing

Holidays have been difficult for me, well since my Mother passed away, if you want to know the exact time they changed. She was just my everything and always brought a sparkle to Christmas even when I became an adult. I know that this time of year is hard for others too because I see it in their eyes. You know that slight look away at the time they are asked “what are you going to do for the holidays?” I took a big breath, looked away and made something up.

After a few years of trying to sleep from October through December to avoid them, I realized that it would be best if I did something other than choosing to be depressed when everyone else was “or so I thought” happy about them. One morning I woke up, put my feet on the floor and immediately decided something had to change and today was going to be the start of it.

Andy Stanley said in his book “The Best Question Ever” that “Time is the irreducible minimum of life. When you boil life down to its basic components, time is your core commodity. You can run out of money, you can run out of opportunities, and you can run out of luck. But when you run out of time, your life is over”. I totally agree that time is something we should use better and making good decisions is a big part of how we use it.

But what about The Time Bandit, do you know him? Sorry guys someone has to be the villain. He robs me of my most precious time like my sleep, a dinner out with my Husband, the great deal that I was working on for my business, or my private time with my Lord. He comes and takes seconds, minutes, and hours, sometimes days and then even years.
